Advocacy

Effective school board directors actively advocate for their students and communities. Over the past four years, I’ve been a strong and consistent voice for Central Kitsap students at both the state and federal levels.

In Olympia, I’ve built relationships with legislators from both parties and chambers to advocate for increased funding and student-centered policy. I’ve made multiple trips to the Capitol to ensure our students' needs are heard and understood by those shaping state education policy.

I’ve also traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with congressional leaders and staff to advocate for Impact Aid—critical funding that supports our district due to our high population of military-connected students.

In addition, I served for two years on the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) Legislative Committee. In that role, I helped keep school board members across the Olympic Peninsula informed and empowered to advocate for the unique needs of their students.

I believe in the power of advocacy to bring real change—and I will continue to be a strong, informed, and persistent advocate for our students.
